Emergency services are still clearing a truck which lost control on the Federal Highway, spilling more than 100 litres of diesel onto the road and slowing the highway to a crawl.
The collision was the seventh accident Canberra has had in less than 24 hours, with three more occurring during Saturday afternoon in Gungahlin, Dickson and Kenny.
The truck lost control and collided with a guard rail just after 2.30pm on Saturday afternoon and two fire pumpers and an ACT Fire and Rescue commander attended the scene.
As of 4.55pm, only one north-bound lane is still open on the Majura Road off-ramp onto the Federal Highway and police are recommending drivers travel carefully.
A male patient was treated by ACT Ambulance paramedics at the scene and transported to Canberra Hospital with minor injuries.
Further down the Federal Highway another car was involved in a single-vehicle accident just before 4pm, with one person taken to hospital for observation.
Eight people have been now been taken to Canberra Hospital as a result of motor vehicle accidents since 5pm on Friday afternoon.
Earlier on Saturday a 76-year-old woman had to be cut out of a car by ACT Fire and Rescue, after a single-vehicle collision in Bruce just after 9am.
The accident occurred on Haydon Drive and the woman was taken to Canberra Hospital in a stable condition, along with the 78-year-old male driver.
At a separate incident in Chifley, two women were removed from their cars by ACT emergency services following a two-vehicle collision at the corner of Hindmarsh Drive and Launceston St.
Both women, as well as a third male patient, were taken to Canberra Hospital with minor injuries.
The spate of accidents followed two collisions on Friday afternoon, including a two-car accident in Braddon and a collision involving a motorised scooter and a car at the intersection of Hindmarsh Drive and Athllon Drive in Phillip.
The 57-year-old rider was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Two other minor accidents occurred on Saturday morning, one in Hume and the other in Nicholls, as well as two in the afternoon at Dickson and Gungahlin.
Traffic was affected on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning as a result of the accidents, particularly along Hindmarsh Drive and Haydon Drive.
There were still traffic disruptions on the Majura Road and Federal Highway off-ramp as a result of the truck collision, as of 5pm.
A spokesperson for ACT Policing said as the wetter weather continues over the next few days, Canberrans should be extra careful on the territory's roads.
"It was the weather conditions that contributed to the accidents this morning," he said.
"Drive slowly and drive to the conditions."
