Unlike other capital cities, Canberra's most densely populated suburbs are not all close to the city. Population density is usually higher in areas close to the inner city or close to transport infrastructure.
But in the ACT, outlying suburbs of Dunlop (1987) in Belconnen, Banks (2246) in Tuggeranong and Ngunnawal (2159) in Gungahlin all feature in the top 10. While the inner-south, Woden and Weston Creek all fail to make the list.

The top Canberra suburbs, while roomy in comparison to Sydney and Melbourne, boast greater density than the most crowded parts of Darwin (2519) and Hobart (3069).
