The Italian writer, philosopher and semiotician, Umberto Eco (1932-2016), in a famous essay Travels in Hyperreality (1975) speculated that the demand for the "real thing" led to the fabrication of the "absolute fake". In the world of the hyperreal everything is a little brighter, the forms a little more perfect and the happiness is more complete.
