More than 100,000 Canberrans lined the shores of Lake Burley Griffin to enjoy the Skyfire spectacular on Saturday despite fears of bad weather.

Police said they wre generally pleased with how the crowd behaved, however, they did take one man and seven young people into custody for drinking.
"Around 30 missing children were reported during the evening however, the free issue of identity wristbands to children by ACT Policing staff and officers helped facilitate the return of many," police said on Sunday.
"Underage drinking remained an issue of police attention, with seven juveniles taken into protective custody for alcohol-related issues. These young people were dealt with by a special Youth Reception Team.
"One adult male was taken into custody for intoxication."
But for most, it was a fun night out.
The annual event, sponsored by radio station 104.7 FM Canberra, featured a fly-by from an RAAF Hornet and more than 2000 aerial fireworks and 10,000 shooting comets
The choreographed display took technicians at Fonti Fireworks five months to plan and lasted around 18 minutes.

Ex-Canberran Timomatic, who headlined the night's entertainment, said the crowd was the biggest he'd ever seen at Skyfire.
‘‘Tonight was crazy. It was a great atmosphere and I always have a fun time when I come back to Canberra - it’s like performing for my family,’’ he said.
"They say this year is the biggest yet and that’s a beautiful thing,” he said.
The radio station’s promotions director Zak Davies said there was every indication they’d record the usual 120-130,000 people in attendance.
Mr Davies said the return of the RAAF hornet jets to Skyfire was a special feature of the event and highlighted closer co-operation with the Department of Defence.
Defence was also represented by the Australian Federation Guard’s precision drill team who fired artillery blanks shortly before the fireworks commenced.
Chief Petty Officer Tye Goodman said the unit of 20 are famous for performing more than 300 intricate drill movements with no vocal commands given.
While the Snowy Hydro SouthCare Helicopter was scheduled to participate in the Skyfire celebrations, it was called elsewhere on assignment.
As always, the Skyfire festival proved a hit with Canberra’s youth who flocked to Regatta Point to watch Timomatic perform.
Red Frogs national representative Chris George said their organisation ‘‘has been asked to hang-out with youth and make sure they were having a good time and a safe time.’’
Lights were switched off around the lake three minutes before the firework spectacular to ensure the fireworks reflected off the lakes surface.
