It sounds like the recipe for an atypical night on the town.

Local celebrities of the spiritual circuit Suzy Cherub and Jo St George prefer to call it "divine dining with a psychic twist".

They are offering their fusion of entertainment and empathy, fine food and fun at the Street Theatre's As You Like It Café Bar on August 27.

"Every night is different, depending on what comes through," said Ms Cherub, who won an International Psychics Association award last year.

"There could be tears as well as laughter."

She described herself as a psychic medium healer while Ms St George said she was a clairvoyant medium and angel intuitive.

At the show people will be able to write down a question they want answered.

Ms Cherub said this could include a request for a prediction or a desire to make "contact with a departed loved one who has passed over".

She and Ms St George plan to give individual platform performances, with one moving around the room with a microphone as the other talks.

They said guests would receive pendulums in their show bags and Ms St George would demonstrate how to use them.

"People are looking for validation of what they already know," she said. "We all have the answers inside."

She said she relied on practical exercises to help people empower themselves and act on their gut feelings.

Ms Cherub said she offered healing, help and "insight into the past, present and future by connecting to the angelic realm and the other side".

Both women consult the cards, lending an air of theatricality to what they do.

"I use them as a psychic tool," said Ms Cherub of the oracle and tarot decks she favoured, "It's like a plumber has a plunger or you paint a wall with a paintbrush."

Ms St George said colour was important to her in reading auras; she also practised palmistry.

"Canberra has a very large spiritual community," she said.
