About 6.55am, police were called to Domino's, where the men were allegedly attempting to remove a safe through a window and driving a white van stolen from a business in the suburb.
Video footage released by ACT Policing showed the alleged offenders speeding away from the scene.
Police said the van crashed into one of their vehicles twice before driving off erratically, often on the wrong side of the road. The van had ACT registration YKA69R.
It was later seen driving near Fyshwick Markets, Wentworth Avenue and Kings Avenue.
ACT Policing said officers found the vehicle alight a short time later in Hopetoun Circuit, Yarralumla, and believed the two men had run away towards Red Hill.
Firefighters put out the fire.
Police asked anyone who might have seen the van or who might have dash-cam footage it driving erratically to call 131 444.
Police also asked anyone who noticed anything suspiciousin the Yarralumla or Fyshwick areas between 1am and 8am to call the same number.
