A 38-year-old man was taken to hospital after being injured in a garbage truck caught fire in Hawker.

The truck caught fire in a driveway adjacent to the Hawker Soccer Club at corner Springvale Drive and Belconnen Way, Hawker.

The fire was reported shortly after 10.40am on Monday.
An Emergency Services Agency spokesperson said the man suffered superficial burns to 15 per cent of his body, including face, neck and arms.

He was transported to the Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.
Police, fire and Worksafe ACT crews remained on the scene until around midday, with a investigators examining a skip and part of the truck.
The outside of the building suffered some minor damage.
Authorities are not sure yet what caused the fire.
