A spot fire broke out early on Saturday morning in Callala Bay, west of Stott Crescent, as crews battled a blaze in the area that jumped containment lines during hazard-reduction burns on Friday.
While the fire was moving towards homes, a NSW Rural Fire Service spokesman said there was no immediate threat to homes in the area.
The fire has already burned 490 hectares of bushland. Helicopters have been brought in to help fight the blaze.
The RFS spokesman said a large cleared area behind homes in Stott Crescent would be used to protect homes if conditions changed.
Roads heading towards Callala Beach are closed, however nearby Callala Bay remains open via Callala Bay Road.
While a strong south-westerly change has moved the fire away from Callala Beach and Callala Bay, crews are saying the conditions may put pressure on northern containment lines near Forest Road.
An emergency warning was issued for the area just after 5pm on Friday but was downgraded to a watch and act at 7.10pm.
Between 150 and 200 firefighters from the Shoalhaven were on the hand to fight the bushfire.
Crews across the state are working to contain several other blazes. An emergency warning has been issued for Cessnock in the Hunter Valley.
A "watch and act"a lert has also been issued for the Pacific Highway north of Raymond Terrace and Wauchope near Port Macquarie.
