Greetings from Tim Buckley (M): In 1991 unknown musician Jeff Buckley (Penn Badgley), is invited to participate in a tribute concertfor his late father Tim Buckley ( Ben Rosenfield), the folk rock star.

The Way Way Back (M): On a summer holiday, shy teenager Duncan (Liam James) dislikes his mother’s new boyfriend (Steve Carrell) but comes out of his shell at a water park run by Owen (Sam Rockwell).

The World’s End (MA15+): Five friends reunite to try topping their epic pub crawl from 20 years earlier and become humankind’s only hope for survival. Stars Nick Frost, Simon Pegg and Martin Freemann.

The Act of Killing (2012, MA15+), directed by Josh Oppenheimer, is a documentary about the 1965 turmoil in Indonesia during which hundreds of thousands of people were slaughtered. After this 2pm screening , there will be a free panel discussion at 4.45pm, featuring experts on Indonesian culture and history.

Don Parties On is David Williamson’s sequel to his hit play Don’s Party. It revisits the characters at another election party four decades later to see what’s changed, and what hasn’t. Hit the Floor Together, presented by QL2 Dance, is a collaboration between 30 creative Indigenous and non-Indigenous young people from the Canberra region with visiting dancers from around Australia. This new contemporary dance work is created by Bangarra’s Daniel Riley McKinley and Kurruru Youth Performing Arts’ Deon Hastie, with choreographer Dean Cross and QL2 artistic director Ruth Osborne. The final performances of Queanbeyan City Council’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream are on today. Directed by Jordan Best, the play, by William Shakespeare explores the worlds of humans and fairies with romance, comedy, mischief and magic. The Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre, 2 and 8pm. The Queanbeyan Charity Bookfair at the Queanbeyan Community Centre, 11 Farrer Place, Queanbeyan, has thousands of fiction and non-fiction books. This month's book fair is helping to raise funds for Queanbeyan Children Start-in-LifeProgram. Open 10am to 2pm.

Australian blues band Blue Eyes Cry will headline this year’s Canberra Blues Society Winter Blues Party at The Harmonie German Club, 49 Jerrabomberra Avenue, Narrabundah. This year the event will be held in celebration of the Centenary of Canberra on August 3, which is also the inaugural International Blues Music Day. Art Song Canberra’s Season of Song 2013 presents The New English Renaissance performed by Duo Trystero: Robert Macfarlane (tenor) and Aleksandr Tsiboulski (guitar). The Maruki Community Orchestra, founded in 2005, is performing its Winter Concert 2013 at 3pm at the Albert Hall. Conducted by John Gould it will present Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro Overture, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No 3 (soloist Anne Stevens) and Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony. Fatal Assistance (2013, unclassified 18+), directed by Raoul Peck, is about what happened in the wake of the devastating 2010 Haitian earthquake. Out of the tragedy should have come an opportunity for a fresh start, but Peck argues that Haiti might have been better left alone than killed all over again by the kindness of the international community.
