When six ACT Fire and Rescue resources arrived at the Lithgow Street location, the fire was well alight. They called for more resources with specialist foam generating appliances and the street was closed while firefighting operations were underway.
Operations were supported by ACT Rural Fire Service, ESA Mapping and Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting. ACT Ambulance Service was in attendance and treated one firefighter for heat stress.
The fire was not under control and contained until about 12.44pm, and localised power cuts were required during the operations.
Firefighters remained at the scene through the night to monitor and manage any flare-ups.
