A team of Gungahlin locals will be running in the City2Surf in Sydney on Sunday, August 12 as part of Team Dainere's Rainbow.

They are running to increase research and funds for paediatric brain tumours, which kill more children than any other disease in Australia.
Dainere Anthoney, a softly-spoken and inspirational15-year-old from Gungahlin, passed away in 2013 after being diagnosed with a brain tumour - or high-risk medulloblastoma - in 2009.
Dainere's Rainbow Brain Tumour Research Fund was established with The Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation "to support the research of the devoted Dr David Ziegler and his team who are working towards improving the outcomes for all children diagnosed with brain tumours".
Mark Scarborough, an ambassador for Dainere’s Rainbow, is competing in the City2Surf, as is her brother Jarrett, already a six-time veteran of the race.
This year Mark's wife, Nicole, will run her first City2Surf as part of Dainere's Rainbow Team along with Chanel Bernal running her second City2Surf.
Mr Scarborough said Jarrett was always thinking of his sister.
"Each year he runs with Dainere very much in his heart, thoughts and every step he runs. Taking on 'Heartbreak Hill' is nothing compared to what children diagnosed with a brain tumour have to face,'' he said.
Last year, Mark took 17 minutes off his previous years’ time and is looking to achieve another big PB. He is also hoping to raise more than in 2017. If he raises $2500 he is going to run the event in a rainbow tutu and socks.
