A 22-year-old Giralang man is expected to face court on Friday after his arrest for a one-punch assault outside a Civic nightclub in August last year.

Police say a man became aggressive and engaged a bystander in a short verbal argument before striking him, causing him to fall to the ground after he was refused entry to the Academy nightclub on Bunda Street, Civic, about 12.40am on Sunday, August 17 police allege.
The offender ran from the scene with two other men and paramedics took the male victim to the Canberra Hospital for treatment before he was later discharged.
Police said officers from criminal investigations searched a Giralang man's home on Thursday afternoon, and took him to the regional watch house after arresting him on a first instant warrant.
He was due to face the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday. Police would be opposing bail.
It was the second one-punch attack to take place outside the Academy nightclub last year after a man was left with a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain when a man levelled him with one punch outside the club on April 21.
The August assault prompted Canberra's leaders on both sides of politics to condemn the attack, but warn against a "knee-jerk reaction" when it came to tougher laws to combat drunken violence.
Attorney-General Simon Corbell said introducing new offences, or mandatory minimum jail sentences, for such attacks was not the answer.
At the time, Academy owner Frank Condi deplored the violence and said the assault took place after the club's security staff had denied the man entry as he was intoxicated.
