Adelaide forward Jason Porplyzia was ruled out yesterday of a possible early return to AFL action against St Kilda on Sunday after his neurosurgeon decided he should have another week off.
Scans cleared Porplyzia of the brain bruising that resulted from his heavy collision with Carlton's Andrew Walker a fortnight ago, but the surgeon decided against allowing Porplyzia to play immediately.
Crows coach Neil Craig had said that it was essentially up to the surgeon to decide whether or not Porplyzia's return would be made against the Saints at Telstra Dome or delayed until the Adelaide met the Western Bulldogs in round 22.
Defender Ben Rutten said he would have liked to see Porplyzia playing this week to help augment the attacking, fluent football Adelaide has mustered in recent weeks.
''It would've been a bonus if Jason was available because of the quality player he is, but we haven't had him the last couple of weeks,'' Rutten said.
