And it might just change coach Paul Roos' perception of his embattled side's ability to push for another premiership.

Following the 45-point loss to Collingwood last weekend, Roos doubted his team's ability to match it with other finals contenders and conceded it was ''unlikely we're going to do much damage'' come September.

The Swans have lost six of their last eight games but Goodes said tomorrow would be a great opportunity to turn around their form heading into a sixth straight finals series.

''I didn't see those comments but I think the form that we played on the weekend, definitely you would have to agree with that,'' Goodes said.

''We really didn't play with much flair from the backline and our forward line wasn't operating too well either.

''Collingwood smashed us.

''We've got an opportunity this week to change that perception of Roosy.

''If we play well this week it will do amazing things for our confidence.''

Goodes said he and fellow senior players were on notice and the onus was on them to set an example for the team.

''As a senior group we're not happy with the form we as leaders are producing at the moment. We're the group of guys at the footy club that really need to step up, and we have to do something about it this weekend.

''We've got something to prove as a group to each other that we can play better football, we do it in glimpses, but we need a consistent effort over the full four quarters.

''If we can do that against Brisbane there's no reason why heading into finals series that we can't win and then go on from there.''

Goodes has been struggling with a groin injury and after testing it at training last night he is not on the team list to face Brisbane tomorrow. AAP
