Champion Daley takes on Lindbeck

Teams from Queanbeyan and West Deakin will contest the final of the Men's Champion of Club Champions competition, after preliminary rounds were held at Tuggeranong last weekend.

Most games played were close contests, however Peter Daley's team from Queanbeyan and David Lindbeck's team from West Deakin made it through the rounds to battle it out for the championship this Saturday at 1pm.

Winter finals approach

Belconnen and Weston Creek bowls clubs will next week host the final round of the ACT Mixed Winter Tournament, after the semi-finals were played on Monday.

Results from the semi-finals were:

Semi-finals 1st to 4th Sections A and B: Match A: Belconnen Green 45 bt Southern Cross Blue 36; Match B: Weston Creek Gold 41 bt Southern Cross Red 15; Match C: Belconnen Gold 42 bt West Deakin Dolphins 39; Match D: Canberra City Blue 37 bt Yowani 36

Semi-finals 5th to 7th Sections A and B: Match E: Weston Creek Green 56 bt Belconnen White 45; Match F Canberra City Red 44 bt West Deakin Dingoes 34; Match G Canberra City White 40 bt Queanbeyan 39.

Canberra City White finished 13th while Queanbeyan was 14th, meaning that both these teams are not required to play in the finals next Monday.

Finalists competing next Monday will be:

Finals 1st to 6th at Belconnen

1st/2nd Belconnen Green v Weston Creek Gold

3rd/4th Southern Cross Blue v Southern Cross Red

5th/6th Belconnen Gold v Canberra City Blue

Finals 7th to 12th at Weston Creek

7th/8th West Deakin Dolphins v Yowani

9th/10th Weston Creek Green v Canberra City Red

11th/12th Belconnen White v West Deakin Dingoes.

Tournament entries open

Entries are open for the Commonwealth Motors Men's Pairs tournament, which attracts teams from across the region and has a prize pool totalling $13,000.

The competition will run from October 30 to November 2, and entries close October 10. Get in quick if you want to enter, as the field will be limited 42 teams.

The entry fee is $120 per team.

Pennant comp review

The upcoming 2008/09 Men's State Pennant competition has been reviewed by the men's match committee and the results will be presented at a meeting to be held at the Tuggeranong Valley Sports Club on August 4 from 10am.
