Former Winter Olympian Mitch Allen is aiming for redemption when he joins a host of the world's best snowboarders at Perisher for the annual Boost Mobile Sno Sho competition this weekend.
Allen bombed out of the unique ''game show style event'' last year and he was forced to watch his brother Clint take out the top prize.
With $30,000 prizemoney and World Snowboard Tour rankings on the line this year, Allen said he was eager to impress on his home slopes by out-jumping and out-sliding the quality international field.
''I didn't do too well last year, it's about redemption now,'' Allen said.
''Hopefully I can get one back on my brother, but if one of us wins it that would be good.
''To have the guys they've got in this comp is unreal, it's amazing and with that much prizemoney up for grabs everyone will be ripping into it.''
The Sno Sho kicks off with a wildcard event today.
The winners of the Big Air and Rail Jam will earn the right to compete against the 22 professional entrants tomorrow.
Winners of tomorrow's 'King of the Rail', 'Big Air' and 'Sno Sho Jam Session' will win $5,000 each.
The first rider to complete five random tricks in the final will take home the $15,000 grand prize.
The international field is headed by Norwegian ace Torstein Horma and also includes Marco Grilc from Slovenia and American Kevin Pearce.
Allen hails from Berrara on the south coast, but bases himself in Jindabyne during the winter.
He said the conditions at Perisher would ensure top-quality competition on the weekend.
''It's been epic, the forecast said we were only going to get like 30cm of snow for the whole year, but it just hasn't stopped.
''They've done really well, it's amazing up there.
''The field that's there are the best riders in the world and everyone is going to be doing really good stuff,'' he said.
''I just want to beat them all.''
Allen will remain in Perisher after the Sno Sho competition to compete in the Australian Open Championships next weekend.
