The magistrate issued a warrant for his arrest and police made a public appeal to find his whereabouts.
He was taken into custody in Tweed Heads by NSW police officers on Saturday night and police will apply for his extradition to Queensland on Monday.
Detective Superintendent Tony Fleming has thanked the community for their assistance.
“The public responded to our appeal and provided information to us through Crime Stoppers,” he said.
“I want to thank all of those who took the time to contact police as this kind of community partnership is essential.
“We are grateful for the assistance and that people have the confidence to come forward.”
