The only thing everyone who had turned up to Manuka Oval knew for sure was they had just witnessed one of the greatest Twenty20 international showdowns in history.
A record-breaking Beth Mooney century (117* from 70) was immediately dubbed one of the greatest knocks in Twenty20 international history, and it was supposed to gift Australia an outright Ashes victory.
It wasn't even the best innings of the night.
England opener Wyatt blasted a remarkable 100 (56) to gift England a stunning four-wicket win with one over to spare in front of 3417 at Manuka Oval in November of 2017.
The mood in the Manuka Oval press box was jovial in the innings break - deadline pressure had supposedly eased after Mooney's classy hundred propelled Australia to 2-178, which simply couldn't be beaten.
Or so an over-confident pack of media types thought.
What started as a joke - "imagine if they ran it down?" - slowly turned into a hint of genuine concern with every Wyatt stroke that major re-writes would have to be scrambled down.
Four dropped catches certainly didn't aid Australia's cause. And sure enough, with a whole over to spare, Wyatt had orchestrated the impossible chase.
"It's a bit surreal, I still can't believe what's just happened," Wyatt said after the game.
"To get the chance to open the batting - I came in at number six in the first game - I felt really confident."
The English star hadn't even registered an international half-century five days earlier but there she sat with a smile on her face, having rescued England from the depths of despair to tie the Ashes series at 8-8.
It wasn't all bad for Mooney and Australia - the hosts had retained the trophy with a draw.
"It's a bit of a funny game, I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry really," Mooney said.
"It was one of those game where a couple of people bat phenomenally and take the game away from each team and then a couple of chances go down and you fall by the wayside.
"It's not all doom and gloom, we've won the Ashes."
