Up to 40,000 cricket fans will pile into the SCG to watch Australia host India in their one-day international series opener which doubles as Behrendorff's 50-over debut on Saturday.
He is a world away from where he made his Twenty20 debut for Australia in Ranchi, but Behrendorff is expecting the Virat Kohli-hype train will make the pristine Sydney venue seem much the same with a pro-Indian crowd breathing down his neck.
Behrendorff, like most bowlers around the world, isn't quite sure of how he can derail the world's most devastating batsman. But he knows exactly when he wants to do it.
"Hopefully early," Behrendorff laughed.
"We need to get him early, he’s obviously one of the best batters in the world, he’s such a lynchpin for their side. We need to get on top of him early and hopefully knock him over so we stand the best chance.
"It’s going to be a pro-Indian crowd, but that’s what it has been in the Twenty20 series and throughout the Test series as well."
Snaring the wicket of the all-conquering Kohli would reinforce a fit Behrendorff's standing as a world class bowler, which was amplified in this summer's Prime Minister's XI showdown with South Africa.
Behrendorff's gutsy decision to put his red ball ambitions on hold for an entire season is already paying dividends with the lighter workload in shorter formats allowing the 28-year-old to play consistent cricket.
He is refusing to daydream about the prospect of playing a role in Australia's ICC World Cup defence - and the rest of the squad would do well to heed his advice.
Australia won just two of 13 one-day internationals last year in an unprecedented run of poor results that make a World Cup defence seem unlikely. Selectors churned through 24 players in a bid to reverse the trend.
Behrendorff is one of five fresh inclusions in the squad for the Indian series and the Tuggeranong product is desperate to show he belongs in the Australian set-up.
With fast-bowling spearheads Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood all being rested to prepare for the Sri Lankan Test series, this is Behrendorff's chance to prove he should be next in line.
"Obviously playing in a World Cup would be remarkable, it would be such an exciting opportunity," Behrendorff said.
"Going forward that’s the plan, to keep doing well and keep giving myself a chance. If you think too much into the future, we get caught up in not doing what we need to do in the present.
"There’s quite a few ODIs, I think there’s about 13 before the World Cup. It’s a great time to hopefully be involved in a fair few of those and get prepared, and be fit and available for selection when it comes to that.
"As fast bowlers you can’t expect to play all formats and all of the games, so it’s good to get an opportunity and I’m looking forward to taking it.
"It’s nice to have a bit of continuity and actually play cricket, rather than play a few games and end up sitting in the rehab gym for the next six months. I’m really happy with how it’s gone so far.
"That’s the thing, knowing when I’m fit and up and running I’m a chance to get selected. With me focusing on the white-ball stuff, it’s been a goal of mine to be available for selection for these sort of games. To be able to be up and running, it’s exciting."
