A notorious blackspot in Canberra's north will receive an upgrade as part of a multimillion dollar roads package to be announced in next Tuesday's ACT budget.

Traffic lights will be installed at two intersections on Tillyard Drive as part of $4 million worth of works on the Belconnen road.
It's one of several roads in the ACT to receive funding in the upcoming territory budget, with more detail to be released later on Thursday.
There have been at least 55 crashes on Tillyard Drive in the past five years, with 110 car crashes at the intersection of Tillyard and Ginninderra Drives between 2003 and 2016.
The lights will be installed on the intersections with Ginninderra Drive and Lhotsky Street, and Deputy Chief Minister Yvette Berry said it would make the road safer.
"Traffic volume in the area has increased over the past six years, as it has across our growing city," Ms Berry said in a statement.
"Installing traffic lights and upgrading these key intersections will make commuting faster and safer for the thousands of drivers who use these roads every day. Most importantly it will help people get in and out of Charnwood shops much more safely and easily."
A 2016 study of traffic conditions on Tillyard Drive showed it had more than 9000 vehicle movements a day.
A survey conducted in November and December 2016 found residents had problems with safety at intersections, particularly at intersections on Tillyard Drive and Lhotsky Street, and reported issues with speeding and peak hour congestion.
Canberra Liberals MLA Elizabeth Kikkert filed a petition with over 1300 in the Assembly in 2017, and earlier this year voiced her frustrations that nothing had been done.
"In the first seven weeks of 2018 at least three more car crashes have taken place at this hazardous intersection," she said in February.
"I remind the Assembly and the minister that in 2010 the ACT black spot consultative panel identified this intersection as a site with a demonstrated serious crash rate and consequently sought commonwealth black spot funding in an attempt to improve it.
"Those intersection upgrades were made the following year, in 2011, but they have proven to be woefully insufficient. The rate of traffic accidents at this notorious intersection in the five years after the upgrades were made actually increased 35 per cent, compared to the five years before the upgrades."
Ms Kikkert said the road was operating a "staggering 56 per cent" above classification.
However Ms Berry said the government had a "strong record" of improving roads in the Belconnen area.
"Because of the significant investment required for these intersections, the upgrades went through the budget process, as was appropriate," she said.
