Australia's leading sports medical officers will meet in Canberra on Thursday to discuss transgender issues in sport as debate continues about Hannah Mouncey's eligibility to play in the AFL women's competition.

The Australian Sports Commission is continuing its work with the Human Rights Commission to develop the framework for a transgender policy for national sporting organisations.
The AFL rejected Mouncey's bid to play in its women's competition after it deemed she would become too big and too strong if she joined a semi-professional environment.
Mouncey broke her silence this week and said she opted against a legal challenge against the AFL's decision because she didn't want to delay the women's draft last month.
Her eligibility and the future of transgender athletes in Australian sport will be one of the main topics when medical officers meet at the AIS as part of the annual 'world class to world best' conference.
Mouncey played handball for the Australian men's team but started taking gender transition hormones in 2015 and her testosterone levels qualifies jer to compete at the Olympic Games as a female.
The Australian Sports Commission hopes to work with the AFL to develop guidelines, but the league's representatives were unavailable to attend the conference in Canberra.
The AFL has said Mouncey's AFLW ban only applies for this season and will not exclude her from entering the draft next year.
"Accepting and agreeing with the AFL's decision are very different," Mouncey said on Twitter.
"While I accept the decision and did not appeal, that doesn't mean I agree with it. I accepted the decision for this year and decided to focus on next year for a number of reasons.
"Not least of which was because to appeal within the legal system (which was the only avenue available) it would have meant requesting an injunction on the draft and thereby meaning hundreds of girls would have been made to wait an extra week or more to find out [whether] they would realise there (sic) dreams of playing in the AFL.
"That was not something I was prepared to do."
The decision on Mouncey's eligibility divided the AFL and Australian sporting world. The sports commission hopes developing a framework will help sports prepare for the future.
Mouncey, 100 kilograms and 190 centimetres, has been cleared to continue playing in the AFL Canberra women's competition for Ainslie despite being banned from the top competition.
She revealed she was unlikely to have gender reassignment surgery because of the cost and said she has lost the strength, speed, endurance and stamina she had as a male.
"Sex reassignment surgery costs around $30,000 ... I am undecided at the moment, however due to it being obscenely unaffordable, haven't given it much consideration as what's the point if you can't afford it anyway," Mouncey said.
"...Yes - my voice sounds male, I have a masculine jaw line and broad shoulders. Large parts of me look male.
"I'm not changing myself to fit in with peoples (sic) concepts of what I should be. If I don't match up with what people's ideas of what a woman, trans or not, should look like, I'm ok with that.
"Yes- I am attracted to women. That makes me gay. Not male. It doesn't make me any less female.
"Yes, out in public I use female bathrooms. Because I'm female. And no - an anti androgen and oestrogen are not performance enhancing drugs.
"They have no performance benefit whatsoever. They have the opposite effect. So no I am not contravening any WADA or ASADA guidelines."
The world class to world best conference has invited industry leaders to Canmberra, including America's Cup skipper Glenn Ashby, Matildas coach Alen Stajcic and multiple AFL premiership-winning coach Alastair Clarkson.
