Police said the package had been placed inside the St George Bank about 5pm.

The branch was closed and nearby areas evacuated while police assessed the package.
Police asked the public to avoid the area while the assessment was carried out.
The precinct has since resumed trading as normal.
ACT Policing thanked Canberra community members for their patience during the incident.
