How is it already June 2?! It goes without saying, but we're in for another cold one. This morning was -4 degrees, bringing another frost, with an expected top of 14 degrees today.
The weekend will be similarly cold with tops of about 15 degrees both days but temperatures well below zero in the morning.
It's my first Canberra winter - wish me well.
Let's see what's making news today.
The great Australian nightmare

Good news, fellow millennials: not one suburb in the ACT is considered affordable for first home buyers.
Domain's First Home Buyers Report found Canberra was one of two capital cities without a single affordable suburb in which to buy a house.
Apartments are still in reach though, with Hawker in Belconnen topping the list for affordability.

St Edmund's woes continue

The fallout from St Edmund's College suspension of a student over his "dangerous" opinion continues.
The 17-year-old's father has defended his son after the school principal suggested he'd been taken advantage of by the "news media" - i.e, The Canberra Times.
Another parent has criticised the school for threatening to sue anyone who defamed it on social media. But the school board says principal Daniel Lawler has its full support.
Death near Yass

Sad news out of Yass, where a woman has died and three people were injured in a car crash.
NSW Police were called to the crash about 1km south of the Lachlan Valley Way turn-off at about 2.15pm Thursday.
Daniel Burdon has more.
The lady in red

Everything about this story makes my heart sing.
Canberra 93-year-old Sylvia Martin has chosen a lovely red dress for her upcoming wedding with a little help from social media.
It gets better: Sylvia has been saying no to proposals from persistent 88-year-old Frank Raymond for more than 20 years.
She changed her mind after learning she could keep the surname of her deceased husband.
Twenty years! Of proposals! Lovely.
