Iranian refugee Mustafa Ehsan has been named Canberra's young citizen of the year for his work with young refugees and asylum seekers.

Mustafa arrived in Canberra in 2012 after fleeing Iran as an unaccompanied minor.
"Since then he has become a passionate advocate for those seeking refuge in Australia," youth minister Rachel Stephen-Smith said.
"His ongoing passion to include all Canberrans through sport and social mentoring earned Mustafa the title of young Canberra citizen of the year."
Other category winners were:
- Personal achievement: Caitlin Figueiredo
- Individual community service: Kate Barton
- Group achievement: SPARK, the Ginninderry joint venture training and employment initiative
- Arts and multimedia: Lucy Sugerman
- Environment and sustainability: Ryu Callaway.
The awards recognise and celebrate young people aged 12-25 years for their personal achievements and contribution to the community.
The awards marked the start of National Youth Week celebrations in the ACT.
