Amongst all the mini-vans and station wagons and people movers clustered outside the average daycare centre, a vintage British sports car is going to stand out. A lot.

Three-year-old Canberra toddler Chloe must have the fanciest ride to daycare in all of the national capital.

She sits up front buckled into her car seat next to dad Peter in the two-seater, convertible 1950 RMC Riley roadster.
And mum Nicole doesn't often get a chance to ride in the car.

"She says it's 'Chloe's Riley'," Nicole said, with a laugh.
The car has an interesting history.
Peter won it on eBay for $8000 as a collection of rusty bits and pieces from Bowral in the Southern Highlands.
He then shipped the car to his dad's property in Brisbane and the pair worked on the worse-for-wear vehicle as a shared project for the next six years.

That was despite having to salvage bits of the car that floated away in the 2011 Brisbane floods.
The end result is a beautifully restored piece of motoring history that also doubles as a pretty fun transport to daycare from the family home in Barton, complete with age-appropriate soundtrack.

"Chloe will put some music on, usually Rastamouse or Elmo," Peter said.
And while Chloe was a little camera-shy for these photographs, she is otherwise the epitome of cool riding gunshot alongside dad on the streets of Canberra.
