A spokeswoman from ACT Policing said firefighters extinguished the fire shortly after arriving at the intersection of Kingsford Smith Drive and Kuringa Drive in Spence shortly after 11am.
But the burnt-out truck was still blocking traffic as of 11.20am with Kuringa Drive closed.
It has been a busy morning for fire and rescue crews.
HAZMAT crews were called to Curtin Primary School at around 11am following reports of the smell of gas.
The scene was quickly declared safe, the crews tracking the source of the smell to a dead animal on site.
