ACT Fire and Rescue were alerted to the incident shortly after 7pm and, on arrival, found a car severely alight in the basement carpark of the Blackall Street apartments.
ACT Fire and Rescue Commander Stephen Gibbs said the fire was quickly extinguished and no one was injured.
"After people were evacuated from the apartment, crews went through to test them all with detectors to make sure there is no toxins in the apartments," he said. Crews also ventilated the building.
"The cause at this stage is non-suspicious, but we're still checking up to see what caused the fire."
A second car was partially damaged and a number of others were affected by the smoke, but there was no damage to the building.
