An up and coming Canberra all-girl rap duo have lashed out at Queanbeyan in a comical attack on national radio, calling the city a "wannabe" Canberra and "basically part of the ACT".

Coda Conduct members Sally Coleman, 23 and Erica Mallet 22, were invited to perform the rap, which has since spread across social media, as part of the weather forecast on Triple J's breakfast show Matt and Alex.
"Queanbeyan! What a wannabe! Copied our forecast, got it free. But it's not a shock, cos you're basically... just part of the ACT," the most offending line reads.
The rap – now named Is it a Quanger?! – goes on to give the city heaps over its residents' tendency to don socks and sandals, its opening hours, and oversupply of takeaway joints.
Even the city's public art choices did not escape the savage dressing-down.
"Canberra! We get a light rail and we a damn sight better with a Skywhale. But meanwhile when we had it, Queanbeyan went and got a giant snail."
Mallet said they had been worried about the reception across the border.
Luckily, however, the rap attack, which also rhymed Red Rooster with the name of Queanbeyan poet Omar Musa, was taken with good humor by the town, whose residents have been sharing it widely on social media.
"All the response have been really positive. [Musa] is a friend of ours so he is not the type of person who would take it badly," Mallet said.
Even Riverside Plaza, who cop a cheeky blast in the song, took it well.
"We like it. Though haven't had many sightings of socks & sandals this week, maybe they all walked across the border," they said via their Facebook account.
Mallet said despite the rap, she would not fear for her safety when travelling to Queanbeyan in the future.
"Not at this point, unless there is a secret plan to boycott Coda Conduct!" She joked.
Mallet moved to Sydney six months ago and is studying communications at UTS, while Coleman has just graduated.
Coleman was working in a pub where she bumped into one of the Triple J presenters who asked them to come on the show.
Mallet said despite the move, they have a lot of home town pride.
"I grew up in Hughes and Sally was in Garran.
"I do miss Canberra. Canberra will always have my heart and where I'll always go back to and I'm sure Sally feels the same," she said.
Coda Conduct have also made a recent guest appearance on Triple J Unearthed as part of their International Womens Day program and are getting more and more airplay on the station.
They are about to release their new EP, Butter Side Up.
