The Bureau of Meteorology also recorded 36 millimetres at Corin Forest, while 32 millimetres was also registered at Mt Ginni.
Meteorologist from the bureau, Bimal KC, said the recent weather in Canberra was due to a large band of rain moving across most of NSW.
"A large cold front associated with that was the reason for all the rain in Canberra," Mr KC said.
"As the front moved further east, we saw much more rain activity."
The front is expected to move further north, leading to the chance of showers early on Saturday morning.
Mr KC said the front would also lead to colder conditions in alpine areas. "There is the chance of snowfall above 600 to 700 metres in the Snowy Mountains," he said.
Friday's rainfall came after a drier than normal April for the capital.
Canberra received 19.6 millimetres last month, compared to the monthly average of 32.4 millimetres.
The weather conditions also led to slippery roads across the ACT, with several car crashes causing long delays during the morning commute.
A five-car crash on the Tuggeranong Parkway just after 9am caused one northbound lane to be shut for more than an hour.
No one was injured during the incident.
Parts of the Monaro Highway was also closed to motorists after a car crash near the Alexander Maconochie Centre.
One lane was closed on the highway, with delays stretching back to Hume.
Mr KC said there was the slight chance of rain in Canberra later in the week.
"From Wednesday onwards there's a different front system that will be around the south-east inland area including Canberra, so there might be some rain around there," he said.
Saturday is expected to be partly cloudy, with a top of 17 degrees.
