The ACT government may reverse its decision to delay the adoption of new construction standards, after it emerged bureaucrats didn't fully consult before recommending the move.
On Friday, minister Gordon Ramsay ordered chief planner Ben Ponton to conduct an urgent review of previous advice.
It's an important change with big ramifications, as Dan Jervis-Bardy explains.

It's costly. It's getting on a bit - but Canberrans like it and want it to keep splurging on.
As it staggers towards its 50th birthday, the Captain Cook memorial jet has been hit by a few malfunctions.
It was closed in March, with repairs expected to cost $250,000.
But - and this is the important bit - a survey of Canberra Times readers said the jet should stay, regardless of the repair cost.
Andrew Brown reports on your views and what they might now result in.

Liberal candidate for Canberra Mina Zaki has stridently denied she holds Afghan citizenship, but has refused to release correspondence she has received from the Afghan government since her declaration to the electoral commission.
So what's going on - and where might the controversy lead?
Sally Whyte reports.
The house where the roof is the garden
We all have a dream home. It's just that most of us don't actually build one.
Peter Bullen has. He's an engineer with vision and he decided he wanted more garden than he had room for - so he sunk the house and put the garden over it.
I went on a tour - and so can you, too.

Not far from 20,000 of us had a lot of fun on Sunday. The attendance at the Collector Village Pumpkin Festival was awesome.
So was the winning pumpkin.
The grower (who is half its size) explained how he won the very big prize.
