The Rosie Project, by Graeme Simsion, led Sarah Wilson's health book I Quit Sugar: Your Complete 8 week Detox Program and Cook-book, Inferno by Dan Brown and a number of other popular titles, including The Stalking of Julia Gillard by Kerry-Anne Walsh.
“Each year there is often a cooking or health-related book as well as a political title in Libraries ACT's top five books," Minister for Territory and Municipal Services Shane Rattenbury said.
"Last year it was Jamie's 15-Minute Meals by Jamie Oliver and Speechless by James Button."
More than three million items are borrowed from ACT public libraries each year, the equivalent of more than 1350 tonnes of books processed by library staff.
“It is pleasing to see the continued use and popularity of our libraries," Mr Rattenbury said.
"Public libraries play an important role in many people's lives, providing access to information, entertainment and education.
"In 2012-2013 they welcomed about 1.9 million visitors. The most requested DVDs in 2013 were: Games of Thrones: the complete second season, Skyfall 007, Argo, Life of Pi and Lincoln.
"All those DVDs have a literary connection, each based on, or inspired by, specific books.”
Mr Rattenbury said the variety of titles borrowed demonstrates the broad cross-section of the community that use public libraries as a valuable resource.
