Police yet to receive report of promotional model mobbing

Three young women, working as promotional staff for auto parts company Sidchrome, were travelling in a car along Tuff Street on Saturday.

They were surrounded by a group of men, who stopped the car, and attempted to grab them.

The young women were doused with water, and had their clothing partially ripped off.

Witnesses told Fairfax Media the young women had to run half-naked down the street to safety.

ACT Policing were yet to receive a report of the incident about 2.30pm Wednesday, but have urged anyone with information to come forward.

Summernats organisers have issued similar pleas, with co-owner Andy Lopez saying the incident was a concern.

''Nobody wants to have an incident like that happen at a festival; it is a pretty isolated one. It wasn't reported to our event security controllers at the time, so we're just trying to catch up on it now and see what we can do to assist,” he said.

''If there's anyone that saw the incident, it would be really helpful if they could maybe get in touch with ACT Police or get in touch directly with the office of Summernats.''

Sidchrome is questioning the behaviour of security personnel, and a spokesman said there were concerns they may not have acted quickly enough to help the young women.

The spokesman said the three women were rattled but had a break, dried off, and were able to continue working later in the day.

Police were generally pleased with the behaviour of the crowds. No arrests were made inside the grounds, but police were investigating two assaults.

They arrested two people outside EPIC and issued three summons for traffic offences.

A further 50 vehicles were issued with defect notices.

UPDATE: Someone involved in the alleged incident has since contacted police, disputing those version of events and did not make any formal complaint.
