While leafy Forrest retained the top earners' spot, the new suburbs of Gungahlin are proving to be home to the most cashed-up residents of the ACT, according to the Census data released today.

Three of the top 10 highest earning suburbs were in Gungahlin, the shiny new suburbs of the north giving the old-school suburbs of the inner-south a run for their money.
The 2011 Census found Forrest retained its number one spot for the highest weekly household income in the ACT - $2947.
But three of the top 10 suburbs were from Gungahlin - No.5 Forde (average household income per week of $2687), No.7 Harrison ($2663) and No.9 Nicholls ($2583).
Rounding out the top 10 were No.2 O'Malley ($2916), No.3 Macarthur ($2737), No.4 Fadden ($2693), No. 6 Barton ($2678), No. 8 Chapman ($2595) and No. 10 Yarralumla ($2580).
The traditional cashed-up inner-south suburbs of Deakin ($2512), Red Hill ($2504) and Kingston ($2502) were edged out of the top 10.
At the other end of the scale, Symonston residents had the lowest weekly household income of $734 - $2213 less than Forrest households.
The other low-earning suburbs were Oaks Estate (average weekly household income of $778), Page ($1309), Reid ($1344), Charnwood ($1361), Lyons ($1379), Belconnen ($1418), Holt ($1418), Scullin ($1495) and Macquarie ($1535).
The median household income per week nationally was $1234.
