Brumbies sign front-row duo Maile Ngauamo and Angus Wagner as back-ups

Hooker Maile Ngauamo and prop Angus Wagner have signed short-term deals as the Brumbies chase a return to the finals.

Ngauamo has been added after Josh Mann-Rea suffered a season, and potentially career, ending knee injury against the Cape Town Stormers last month.

"I am excited by the prospect of joining the Brumbies for the remainder of the season and look forward to playing my part," Ngauamo said.

"The club have given me an opportunity to play professional rugby and I am aiming to repay the faith shown in me by Dan McKellar and the coaching staff by learning and contributing as much as I can."

The Brumbies are slowly getting players back on the field, with Lachlan McCaffrey to play for Queanbeyan in his first game in more than a month. Rob Valetini made his comeback via the bench in the clash against the Pretoria Bulls on Friday night, but David Pocock is facing an uncertain future in Super Rugby as he continues to struggle with a calf problem.

"Frustrated and disappointed to still be out injured but I've enjoyed watching the effort that's gone in at training and then seeing the team perform like they have," Pocock said on Twitter.

Prop Wagner has graduated from the Brumbies Academy and joins the squad as an injury replacement for Vunipola Fifita.
