In April last year on the photo-sharing app Instagram he had sent the message, "I want to see your nude body", followed by "Yes or no?"
The 49-year-old man, who has not been named to protect the identity of his victim, also sent messages that read, "I liked your very short skirt", "Do you like me the same way I like you?", and "Do you like being with me?", among others.
After retiring on Friday to begin deliberations, the jury returned its verdict on the single count of grooming about 11.30am.
But the man was not present to hear his fate, after being admitted to hospital as an involuntary inpatient on Friday evening, the court heard.
The man had pleaded not guilty and denied sending the messages, suggesting it had been the girl's brother, who had shown him dislike, or his ex-wife on his account. At the time he had been employed in a communications role with the AFP.
But prosecutors said any suggestion his phone had been hacked was ludicrous.
The case will return to the ACT Supreme Court at a later date for sentence. Justice Michael Elkaim continued the man's bail.
