A Canberra man accused of stabbing another person in the chest was charged with attempted murder on Tuesday.

Russell Te-Rangi Walker, 29, of Bonython had previously been facing a charge of intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm over the incident.
He appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court and pleaded not guilty to those charges and to one charge of possessing a black-handled kitchen knife with intent.
"About 9.15pm, Friday 28 June 2019, ACT Policing were called to an address in Bonython with reports a man had been stabbed," police said in a statement.
"On arrival, police located a man with a stab wound to the middle of his upper chest. A knife was located a short distance away from the victim."
The victim was taken to hospital and Mr Walker was arrested at the scene.
"Police will allege [Mr Walker] and the victim had an altercation that lead to the stabbing," they said.
Mr Walker was remanded in custody and his case will return to court in September.
