That's the thoughts of Raiders assistant coach Andrew McFadden, who also felt the decider was a big moment for halfback Aidan Sezer.
Bateman's made a habit of winning, but faces the ultimate test against a Star-studded Sydney Roosters outfit looking for back-to-back premierships on Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday.
But it's one the hard-as-nails England international will relish as he goes head to head with Australia captain Boyd Cordner.
"I think we can all see that he will. He loves it. He's had a great influence on our group," McFadden said of Bateman.
"He's won plenty of things and that's the character he brings in. He wants to win."
Those plenty of things are two English Super League titles as he's set to play in his fifth grand final in six years.
For Raiders playmaker Sezer it's a massive moment.
Up against the heralded Roosters halves Cooper Cronk and Luke Keary, Sezer has the chance to etch his name into folklore if he can lead the Green Machine to a drought-breaking title.
He's grown into his role this season as part of a new halves pairing with boom five-eighth Jack Wighton.
"Like any halfback, they've got to have a good game, but he's really developed his game this year," McFadden said.
"He's a lot more composed. He's really enjoying his footy. And he knows where he fits in the side.
"I think that's the key that he plays the game that he's comfortable with.
"It's exciting for him. Like all of them, this is a big moment for him."
McFadden said it could be the last game in lime green for a number of players.
Raiders winger Jordan Rapana looks set to join Japanese rugby, while Joey Leilua has been given permission to look around.
He's contracted to the Green Machine for 2020, but they won't stand in his way if he can find a long-term deal elsewhere.
Sezer's in the same boat, with England international playmaker George Williams joining the Raiders next season.
McFadden encouraged the group to seize the moment while it's here.
"There's probably going to be a few moving on at the end of the year, but that happens with every team and you just have to take the moment," he said.
"They're all very excited and tight and I'm sure they'll take their moment."
McFadden had a cheeky dig at Leilua, who's made a miraculous recovery from a calf injury that forced him from the field in their preliminary final win over South Sydney.
"They call him the miracle man, he recovers very quickly and it's great to have him on," he said.
"He's going to really provide us a point of difference."
