On September 30, workers were seen installing fences around the former hospital on McKee Drive in Bega, which stopped admitting patients in March 2016 when the town's new $187million hospital was opened.
In response to questions from Australian Community Media, a spokesperson from Southern NSW Local Health District said its office was continuing to work with Property NSW and Health Infrastructure on the future of the site.
"With the last staff members in the community health building at the old Bega Hospital site now relocating to offices at South East Regional Hospital, the site is vacant and fencing is being installed for the safety of the community," they said.
In April, SNSWLHD confirmed it owns the former hospital and was "working with Property NSW to dispose of the site".
A parcel of land from the site was sold to TAFE NSW to build the $7million Connected Learning Centre (CLC), which opened in February.

At the end of 2018 the NSW government committed $17million to expand the then-nearly completed CLC into a brand new TAFE campus.
The new campus, to be built adjoining the CLC (where the old red-brick community health building currently sits), would allow the introduction of new courses including agriculture, bricklaying, carpentry, electrical, early childhood education and plumbing.
