It's not every day that you see some horses hanging out at Kings Park. It's even rarer that you see a small unicorn joining them, but that's what horse lovers can enjoy this weekend.

Two of the region's animal welfare charities, Heavy Horse Heaven and Pets in the Park have teamed up to bring about a cocktail party with a few hairy guests - some of which will be there for the perfect photo opportunity.
There's no doubt that the horses will be the centre of attention at Cocktails and Clydesdales - with a professional photographer on hand to grab a happy snap with you and one of the gentle giants, Diesel and Hunter.
Both of the Clydesdales have spent time as residents of Heavy Horse Heaven - although Hunter now calls Yass' Cooma Cottage home after he was adopted. Heavy Horse Heaven president Karen Hood says they couldn't not bring the Clydesdale back for the day because "he's good in crowds and loves the attention".
But while these big boys are perfect for a professional photo shoot, there will be two ponies who know how to pose for the perfect selfie. Particularly Jasper, the 35-year-old pony who will be dressed up as a unicorn especially for the event.
Of course, the event is not all about feeding the Instagram feed - no matter how photogenic these beautiful creatures may be. It's also about highlighting and supporting the work which these two organisations do.

And for Heavy Horse Heaven, this means taking care of unwanted or abused horses.
"We're finding lately that we've been inundated with abandoned horses where they've just been left on properties, so we're called out to deal with them," Hood says.
"Also, people who are unwell or terminally ill, we get calls from them to take over their horses so they don't have to worry about that when they're going through treatments or passing on.
"We rehabilitate them if they need it, and then find them new homes."
Pets in Park, on the other hand, is a group of qualified vets and veterinary nurses who once a month give up their Sundays to give free veterinary care for the pets of those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The team of five vets and five nurses - from different veterinary clinics across Canberra - will see on average 25 pets come through the clinic during the two hours that they open for on the first Sunday of every month.
"We really just want to let people know what we both do," Hood says.
And then there are the therapeutic benefits of hanging out with horses by Lake Burley Griffin for the evening. While Hood says the organisation doesn't run equine therapy sessions, their volunteers often thank them for being able to be around the horses.
"The difference that they make to people is just incredible," she says.
- Cocktails and Clydesdales is on Saturday from 5pm. Tickets are $30 for general admission or $50 for a premium ticket which includes a professional photo session with the Clydesdales. Both include a signature cocktail on arrival. Tickets from TryBooking.
