If the Cavalry starting pitcher and his wife Megan-Kate ever need a job, they should send their resumes to the North Pole.
They bought a couple of shopping trolleys full of toys and gave out Christmas presents to sick children at the Canberra hospital.
It's something they've done every year wherever they are in the baseball world.
This year Canberra was the beneficiary of their goodwill after Hoover joined the Cavalry's ABL charge.
Having Crohn's disease - a problem with the digestive tract - meant Megan-Kate spent plenty of time in hospitals as a child so it's something that's close to their hearts.
They were unsure what they'll do for Christmas themselves - maybe go down to Geelong early ahead of the series that starts Boxing Day.
"Megan-Kate and I have done some work with the children's hospitals over in the States," Hoover said.
"We definitely like to do things around Christmas, especially for families that might be stuck in the hospital for the holiday season.
"It's just something we really enjoy doing - being able to give a present or two to a child or their family and just get their mind off what they might be going through for that day."

Hoover led the Cavalry to victory over the Brisbane Bandits at Narrabundah Ballpark on Thursday night, in game one of a crucial series for the home side.
The 32-year-old came Down Under to catch the eye of Asia.
That's where he's hoping to find a job, after spending seven seasons in Major League Baseball.
He hasn't had any offers yet, but he's hoping his fortunes - along with those of the Cavalry - can change over the second half of the season.
Hoover has two wins and a loss from his five starts, with an earned-run average of 3.45.
"I'm just trying to stay focussed on what we've got going on here," he said.
"It hasn't gotten off to the best start. I think we're underachieving a little bit, but I know we've got the pieces here to make a run in the rest of the season.
"Whatever will happen baseball-wise will take care of itself. That's still where my goal and priorities are - to try and get a job over there [in Asia]."
