With Christmas over for another year, the two young Canberrans ventured into the hoards of bargain hunters in the bid to find even more decorations of their outdoor lighting displays.
But it's all for a good cause. Walker and Crowther have been decorating their Gowrie homes - on Stacy Street and Ruthven Street, respectively - for the past six years, but this is the third year that they've turned their festive spirit into a fundraiser for MS Australia.
"My grandmother has had MS for about 14 years now," Walker says.
"When we decided that we had a good platform to raise money for a worthy cause we had a bit of a conversation and we decided that MS would be the charity that we would choose."
The last two years have seen the duo raise about $7500 for the charity, with almost $6500 of that coming from last year's donations and raffle fundraising alone.
This year raffle returns and includes donations from local businesses including AG Gardening and Lawn Services, Capital Brewing and Impress'd Jewellery, as well as a signed Sydney Swans jersey and Geelong Cats merchandise.
"The support has been amazing over the last couple of years, and the businesses are more than happy to donate to a worthy cause to raise funds," Walker says.
While the recent smoke in the capital has kept people away from the displays, Walker and Crowther are hoping the numbers will pick up in the last few days before Christmas so they can match last year's fundraising events.
"People are great. It's not compulsory that people donate," Walker says.
"A lot of people just drive past but at the same time a lot of people get out of their cars with their kids, have a walk around, walk up the stairs and buy a couple of raffle tickets."
For Crowther, the yearly tradition is also a way to continue to grow his collection of solar powered decorations.
"My parents never did our yard," Crowther says.
"Someone down the street would always do the lights and whenever we went past every Christmas, I would ask my parents if we would decorate our house with Christmas lights and they'd always say no.
"I convinced them once when I saw solar lights and I said, 'if I did all of my lights solar would I be able to do lights then?' My dad basically said it's your money so go for it.
"There have been more solar lights available than there has been in previous years. There's a lot more characters that are solar now, although they're not as cool as LED because the LED options have a lot of cool characters that move."
The decoration collections are set to grow once again this week ready for 2020, with the duo already having scoped out potential new additions to get on Boxing Day.
"We have a plan for Boxing Day ready of where we're going to travel first to get lights," Crowther says.
For those who want to see this year's display, it will be switched on into the new year, with donations being taken until Christmas Day.
