Chloe Hosking goes back-to-back to win Bay Crits

Both because of everyone battling the NSW bushfires and the smoke blanketing her home town.

Hosking sprinted to victory in stage three in Williamstown on Sunday, giving her the overall prize as well.

She didn't go in to the Bay Crits with great expectations because her main targets aren't during the Australian summer.

They lie later in the year with the goal of earning her qualification for Australia's road race team to contest the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Hosking was also feeling "quite flat" going in, but was happy with the way she progressed throughout the race - although there's still a lot of work to be done.

The 29-year-old has decided to stay in Geelong because Canberra's smoke is impossible to train in and will travel straight to Ballarat for the national championships next weekend.

"I've been following [the Canberra smoke] pretty closely and it keeps bumming me out," Hosking said.

"I just feel so sorry for everybody that's involved with it.

"It's a really tough place for Canberra to be in at the moment and we're not even currently close to fighting fires.

"Just seeing on my Instagram feed all the businesses having to close, my sister has a young child and I'm worried about his baby lungs."
