Timotheou was in Canberra during the Christmas break and attracted interest from A-League clubs including the Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United.
The 22-year-old may link up with Western United this month for a return to Australia, having been plying his trade with Belgian First Division A club Zulte-Waregem.
Timeotheou told The Canberra Times last month he is desperately seeking more game time after missing Graham Arnold's under-23 squad for the Asian championships.
