ACT Meteors fall short against NSW Breakers in WNCL clash

Phoebe Litchfield's unbeaten 82 (119) saw the NSW Breakers claim a four wicket win with 12 balls to spare against the Meteors at Hurstville Oval on Tuesday.

Erin Osborne led the way with 55 as the Meteors folded for 177, with the Breakers overcoming an Alyssa Healy duck to post 6-179 and close out the round on top of the table.

The defending champions now sit on 13 competition points, one point clear of second-placed Western Australia and five clear of the sixth-placed Meteors.

But the ACT have an ace up their sleeve as they reach the halfway point of the WNCL season with their final four games all coming on home turf.

The Meteors will host Queensland on January 21 and NSW on January 23, with both games being played at Manuka Oval.

Then they will find themselves on a collision course with Western Australia on February 4 and Tasmania on February 6 at Phillip Oval.

Home games have been few and far between for the Meteors in recent years and this is a chance David Drew's outfit is desperate to make the most of.
