Canberra Raiders hooker Josh Hodgson looks to add dimensions against Parramatta Eels

They struggled to find a way through a maroon-and-white wall against a wounded Manly on the weekend, with their work in the Sea Eagles' defensive 20-metres copping some criticism.

It's seen them drop to ninth in the NRL for points scored - below the struggling North Queensland Cowboys and Wests Tigers.

Their tally of six points was just the second time they've failed to get to double figures in almost three years - the last time was in September 2017.

Reassuringly though, they've still scored more than fellow top-eight sides Melbourne Storm and Manly.

Plus, their defence is the third best in the NRL - giving up just 72 points in six games.

It's seen Raiders coach Ricky Stuart stick with the same 17 that lost to the Sea Eagles on the weekend.

Stuart named an unchanged line-up to take on the ladder-leading Parramatta Eels at Parramatta Stadium on Saturday night - although he does have room to make some changes through his extended bench, which includes young winger Bailey Simonsson and veteran prop Dunamis Lui.

The Raiders have a good recent record against the Eels, who Stuart coached before returning to the Green Machine.

They've won five of their past six encounters and another win would see them draw level on points on the NRL ladder.

Hodgson said their attack had become "clunky".

"Sometimes less is more and sometimes we need to strip it back a little bit and get a little bit back to basics and just get a little bit more strike in our attack," he said.

"There's a few areas as well that we need to change. Sometimes we're a little bit one dimensional coming out of our own end and ... you can kind of see what we're doing.

"We'll have a look at a few areas there where we can change things up a little bit, we'll tweak a few areas, but we won't be looking to change too much within the space of a week.

"But have a bit more punch and with more strike in our attack."

He was confident it wouldn't take to much for the normally feared Green Machine to return.

"I think it is [easy to fix] personally. And speaking to the boys in the spine we think it's a pretty easy fix so we'll see how we go this week," Hodgson said.

"Another tough test against Parramatta, who are playing some really good footy this year and are a really good defensive team from what we've seen so far."

The 30-year-old also felt they needed to treat the ball with more respect, having coughed it up repeatedly against Manly.

Those handling errors allowed the under-manned Sea Eagles to relieve the pressure whenever they found themselves in trouble.

They lost two players to injury inside the opening four minutes and were further weakened when star fullback Tom Trbojevic (hamstring) limped off with 28 minutes remaining.

"If we're making 15 errors like we did on the weekend against a big side like Parramatta you're going to be under the pump defensively," Hodgson said.

"That's the first and foremost in the back of my mind."
