Cull the Brisbane Broncos to reopen the border

You know why? Because the Brisbane Broncos pose more of a threat to the ACT citizens than the ACT citizens do to Queensland.

And that's quite a trick given the Broncos will fly on a chartered flight to Canberra, get on a bus and go straight to Canberra Stadium - unless they stop at a pub along the way for a quick schnitty and a spin of the one-armed bandits.

Nothing would better point this out to Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk than banning the Broncos. (Although maybe she'd be happier if they weren't embarrassing the Bananas State.)

Let's have a look at the facts.

Canberrans have done such a good job of obeying the ACT government's protocols there hasn't been a new case of the coronavirus in Canberra since July 10 and there are no active cases in the ACT.

Yet Palaszczuk has bizarrely labelled Canberra a coronavirus hotspot.

Why? Because their border control wasn't capable of stopping the one NSW person who went via the capital to trick their way into Queensland.

So because of the actions of a dirty Cockroach all of us law-abiding, golf-loving citizens who just want to go north to escape the frost for a few days while losing golf balls and their temper on the Gold Coast get banned!

Yeah sure, I might be one of those aforementioned disease-free law-abiders who look like they'll have to postpone their golf trip for a second time because of Palaszczuk's ridiculous Canberra ban, but my obvious conflict of interest doesn't change the facts.

It's why I went to the ACT government on Friday to convince them to threaten to keep the Broncos out. (And get some leverage in the process.)

The Broncos have had a far greater chance of catching and spreading the coronavirus amongst themselves while tackling each other at training - and then potentially tackling and spreading it to our beloved Green Machine at Canberra Stadium on Saturday night. (Although, touch wood, they might not get close enough to the aforementioned Raiders to transmit anything given some of their "efforts" this season.)

Firstly, most of their coaching staff have been celebrating birthday parties at the Caxton Hotel earning them 14 days in the COVID sin bin.

Secondly, the now suspended Broncos forward Tevita Pangai jnr has seemingly visited anywhere and everywhere in Queensland in an attempt to get himself fired.

Before returning to the Broncos bubble to share the love.

Finally, 10 players - including evil genius Pangai - went to the pub for a few schnitties and goodness knows what else the other week.

Sure, the 10 Broncos have been cleared of breaking the Queensland government's protocols, but they're yet to be cleared of breaching the NRL's protocols - with the NRL telling The Saturday Serve they're unlikely to before the Raiders game.

And the Broncos refused to return calls asking whether the 10 had passed their coronavirus tests on Friday.

Yet all the ACT government had to say was: "The ACT government is unaware of any public health concerns in relation to this."

So the Cane Toad invasion will go ahead. While perfectly safe golf trips will not. Sigh.
