Banks house party posed 'social distancing issues' amid 99 per cent compliance in ACT

Police say 60 people were at the party just before midnight on Saturday.

Police gave the young people a move on order and two people were taken into protective custody for being intoxicated. Charges are not expected to be laid.

ACT Police Detective Superintendent Mick Calatzis said the party had gotten out-of-control and was a "social distancing issue".

"Young men and women will be young men and women through every generation, we're pragmatic about that," he told ABC Radio Canberra.

"But we're in a current public health dynamic and everyone is largely doing the right thing, but that takes up a lot of energy, a lot of resources."

Detective Superintendent Calatzis said there was a 99 per cent compliance rate in the ACT.

He reminded the community that despite a further easing of restrictions some rules remained unchanged, including a need to keep 1.5m distance from others and to maintain the four-square-metres per-person rule.

"We've gone into stage three right now and some people might think that's a more relaxed phase," he said.

"The conditions are still the same."

Meanwhile, ACT Policing expected a handful of Canberrans to cross the border on Monday as the final opportunity for residents currently in Victoria to drive home.

Anyone returning from the NSW-Victorian border must arrive in the ACT by 3pm and will be greeted by police and health officials before they enter quarantine.

Detective Superintendent Calatzis said every Canberran who had returned since Thursday had been compliant.
