ACT Brumbies eye Super Rugby AU's biggest road trip

Dan McKellar's outfit faces a 2418 kilometre match day round trip for their round 10 Super Rugby AU clash with the Queensland Reds in Brisbane on Saturday night.

The competition front runners will spend more than three hours on flights with bus trips to and from the stadium wedged in between, tallying 228 minutes of travel on game day due to the competition's biosecurity measures to combat the threat of COVID-19.

The trek from Canberra to Brisbane is the biggest in the competition, given the Western Force and Melbourne Rebels have been based in Sydney for the domestic campaign.

But Brumbies winger Tom Wright is confident the tournament favourites can overcome the task ahead against a Reds outfit in what many see as a potential final rehearsal.

"I'm sure we'll be able to master the flight, and get in and get out with a good win," Wright said.

"It helps having done it, just around the mental preparation for the guys. Obviously the flight is probably a little bit shorter if anything, we've done a few four hour to four and a half hour trips with a few stoppages on the bus.

"The flight might just be a little bit easier. I can't imagine it will be too much hassle, we've just got to make sure we get our preparation right and make sure we have all got a plan around how to attack it.

"They'll be champing at the bit to make sure they're there [on September 19] against us. We've locked in a home final which is nice, but for us to take momentum into the final, we've got to go up to [Brisbane] and attack it, and come away with a crisp win.

"Then we'll be able to come in with plenty of confidence against whoever we're playing the next week."
