But he's on the verge of catching championship fever as the ACT Brumbies flyhalf prepares to potentially steer the team in the upcoming Super Rugby AU grand final.
The 22-year-old has also repaid the faith Brumbies coach Dan McKellar has shown in him and fellow young gun Noah Lolesio by re-signing for 2021, which will be announced on Wednesday.
It's another massive boost for the Brumbies as they prepare to take on the Queensland Reds at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night in what's shaping as a preview of the decider on September 19.
While Lolesio (hamstring) could potentially return for the finals - after initial fears were his season was over - Kuenzle has already shown he's more than capable of steering the Brumbies ship around the park as they've already wrapped up top spot and a home grand final.
Kuenzle has also shown faith in the Brumbies, despite Rugby Australia yet to come up with a model for Super Rugby in 2021 - it's still no clearer what teams will be involved or even what the salary cap will be.
"I'm really happy to know I'll be wearing Brumbies colours again next year," he said.
"I feel like I'm really growing down here, as a player and as a person, and I'm looking forward to working with the coaches and staff to keep improving.
"The culture down here is something that I'd heard about before I came to Canberra and I'm really excited to continue to be part of it."

The former Junior Wallaby joined the Brumbies at the end 2018 and made his debut in round two of this year's Super Rugby proper competition before the COVID-19 virus shut it down and the Australian edition was born.
He spent 2019 leading the Canberra Vikings to the NRC grand final.
McKellar has continued to show faith in his young playmakers and was excited about the prospect of making Kuenzle even better.
"We're really happy that Bayley will be sticking around here at the Brumbies next season," he said.
"He's a really hard worker on the field, always looking to improve his game and has performed really well this season when he's had his opportunities.
"BK is a really popular member of the group and the whole organisation is looking forward to seeing him continue to grow on and off the field next year."
