The Victorian government announced the initiative on Monday, with 500 places for school teacher training and 76 for early childhood educators.
The initiative aims to help schools employ local teachers to work in hard-to-fill roles in rural, regional and outer-metropolitan regions.
These include subject areas such as science, maths, engineering and technology, applied learning, languages and specialist education.

Those with a bachelor's degree will be able to complete a Masters of Teaching in 18-24 months, with either an employment-based model or a hybrid model combining intensive study with practical classroom experience.
Teaching students can earn more than $47,000 per year while they learn on the job, while students completing the hybrid program are eligible for a $15,000 stipend to support intensive study in their first year.
Financial support packages valued at $30,000 will also be available for participating early childhood educators to cover course fees, materials and help with living expenses.
